CR rolls out retrofitted Kalyan local

MUMBAI: India's first yellow-red and silver retrofitted local rolled out of CST's platform number 5 at 1:04 pm on Friday to Kalyan. The rake, said officials, has the best features of the old DC rake and the new Siemens DC-AC rakes. The interiors matched the hi-tech rakes, however shied away from the purple and white exteriors as they easily show paan stains said officials The revamped rake, however, didn't bear the picture of a woman outside the ladies' compartment.It also had LCD screens in it.
CR will retrofit twenty 9-car DC rakes into AC-DC ones at CR's Matunga workshop and the Kurla car-shed which are key inputs in the ongoing DC to AC conversion project of CR.
During retrofitting, CR is not only altering the circuitry like rectifiers and transformers but also amenities such as seat cushions, ventilation grille and handles to bring these rakes on a par with the new rakes.
